About Us

These are your farmers. Both meeting in the unlikely grounds of San Diego for some college hockey. They demolished the competition in college leading them to join team USA in the land down under, winning A gold medal thus proving they are unstoppable. They graduated both with degrees in Sustainability and Agriculture, awaiting the next obstacle to overcome. 

While Vince was finishing his degree, he was working for the Resource Conservation District of San Diego. He was enlightened and educated in so many fields of agriculture and food systems right in the heart of San Diego County. This grew his passion much deeper for bringing fresh food to all. Upon Graduating, Vince took an opportunity to hone his ancestors great skills; not baseball unfortunately, but cooking. He attended culinary school in New York focusing on a farm to table foundation. Through laborious studies and volunteering events, he graduated with a new found purpose and skills for bringing the farm fresh food to all tables. After working in different kitchens in New York, he found an amazing opportunity to work within a school system focused on providing healthy foods for students and educators. It sparked an idea to emulate this for all school systems, giving all students the chance to experience true healthy and nutritious foods. After Covid displaced him back to California, he was able to further his passion by working as a personal chef for clients and families. This is when John called him to make dreams of farm fresh food to tables a reality.  Since then, Riley's School of Plants has been founded and growing exponentially.

After graduating from San Diego State, John took some time to travel the country in his retrofitted van. He scoured the country for new experiences and inspiring destinations. After spending time in Washington, Colorado, and Connecticut, he had an itch that needed to be scratched. That was setting up his own Farm. He settled down roots in Somers Ct, where he just dove right in, hands in the dirt as deep as they could go and began to build Rileys School of Plants from nothing. He came in with the vision of regenerative farming in an area so focused on traditional conventional farming and wanted to shake things up. No Drugs for the ground, no sprays for the bugs. True ground up evolution and resilience building is the game. And if there is something to know about John, it is he likes to win games. So what better step to take than to give his old teammate a call to team up once again. Riley's School of Plants is here for the long haul. So get excited for all that's to come.
